Leland was Captain Sonstelie's radio operator in the Company's radio network. In Japan he was the liason between Yokohama and Satte and then between the Company and Battalion Headquarters. He showed the guys feature movies in the mess hall several nights a week.
Lee has three college degrees and taught science for 37 years. Earlier, he was a lathe operator. He and Gladys have traveled throughout the U.S. and in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. Gladys enjoys embroidery, reading, painting, and music including playing the organ. Lee enjoys stamp and coin collecting, woodworking, needlepoint, ballroom and folk dancing, photography, and reading. They have both been very active with Company I reunions. They enjoy their family and grandchildren.
