Dale C. Paul was born on March 10th, 1925 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 10th, 1943 at the age of 18 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He took his physical April 28th, 1943, reported for induction at the St. Paul Armory June 28, 1943, was sworn in June 30th, 1943, and entered active service at Fort Snelling, Minnesota July 14th, 1943. He left Ft. Snelling Minnesota for North Camp Hood Texas July 21, 1943.
On July 24, 1943 he arrived at North Camp Hood, Texas, and was assigned to Co. “A”, 142nd ASTBn. for basic training (ASTBn.= Army Special Training Battalion). He later left Camp Hood, Texas to participate in the ASTP program. On Dec. 10, 1943 he arrived at Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. He was assigned to Co. “B” ASTP for Basic Phase Curriculum B-1 (Engineering). (ASTP=Army Special Training Program). He was lastly assigned to the 97th Infantry, 386th Infantry Regiment, Company “I” APO 445 for Infantry training March 8, 1944 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He served with the 97th Infantry, 386th Infantry Regiment, Company “I” stateside, through ETO, and the Occupation of Japan. He was Honorably discharged March 16, 1946. He re-enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1948. He served in the Army Reserves until 1954 in which he was Honorably discharged as a 2nd Lt.
Dale C. Paul passed away on April 20th, 2005 at the age of 80. He is greatly missed!
